FAQs

Q: Do I need an appointment to try on wedding gowns? If so, how do I schedule an appointment?

A: Yes, please call (718)-643-1680, or email bridal@michellenewyork.com to schedule an appointment. Appointments are available Tuesday - Sunday. If you would like a weekend or late night appointment, we suggest booking at least one week in advance.

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?

A: Bring pictures of dresses you've seen on our website, in magazines (like NY Weddings magazine) or elsewhere. And bring an open mind, don't be surprised if you find "the one" on your first visit to Michelle New York Brides. Also, we recommend that you bring a strapless bra and/or shoes with the desired heel height that you plan to wear on your wedding day.

Q: Who should I bring to my appointment?
A: Bring your closest friend or family member whose opinion you value and who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your gown. We suggest no more than 3 people accompany you to your appointment, this prevents from taking the focus off of you.

Q: What size gowns are available for me to try on?

A: Most of our samples range in size between 8-12.

Q: May I take photos of the gowns while I try them on?

A: Yes, you may take photos of yourself in the gowns that you try on during your appointment.

Q: Can I complete my entire look in one appointment?

A: Absolutely! We carry stunning accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewelry, etc) to help you achieve your ultimate bridal look for your wedding day.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment to look at accessories?

A: Yes, appointments are required for all accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewelry, etc).

Q: How far in advance do I need to buy my gown?
A: It's best to allow 6-9 months before your wedding to order a gown. This will allow enough time for your fittings, as 2-3 fittings are normally needed.

Q: What is the price range of your gowns?

A: Our gowns range from about $795 to $5,000.

Q: Will you ship my gown out of state for me?
A: Yes, we can ship your dress anywhere you'd like. Shipping fees apply.

Q: How do I pay?
A: We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, and Visa, as well as cash and personal checks. (Personal checks are only accepted for deposit, not final payment) We require a minimum 50% deposit at the time that you place your order. Your remaining balance is due at your first fitting.

If you've requested that we ship your gown out of state, your balance must be paid in full before it can be shipped.

Q: What is a rush order?
A: If your wedding gown is ordered in less time than we typically need to have a gown made, 16 weeks, then the gown is a "rush order" and there is an additional fee.

Q: Can I get a color swatch of my gown?
A: Yes, a complimentary swatch of your gown will be given upon request.

Q: When will I begin my dress fittings?
A: We will provide tentative fitting dates at the time that you order your gown. We recommend fittings begin at least 4-6 weeks before your wedding day.

Q: What should I bring to my first fitting?
A: You should bring shoes and undergarments that you'll wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown fit through the bodice and hemline. Undergarments (bras, SPANX, etc) are available for purchase through Michelle New York Brides prior to or at your first fitting.

Q: When should I pick-up my gown?
A: If you're local, your gown may be stored in our salon until the day before or the day of your wedding. If you're not local, you may schedule pick-up or shipping of your gown at your convenience.

Q: Do you have dresses for bridesmaids, mothers-in-law and mother-of-the-bride?
A: Yes. We will be more than happy to assist you in finding the perfect evening wear for your entire bridal party.
